During its 18 year production Mercedes introduced a number of engine variants into the model range, the smallest being a 2.8 litre in-line six cylinder through to a 5.6 litre V8 engine and despite a small number of styling revisions the model remained relatively unchanged, but sold exceptionally well, with just under 240,000 units sold.

In fantastic condition this, August 1983 (fitted with a cherished number plate valued @ £1000) Mercedes-Benz 500SL has covered just 94k miles and comes with the following specification:

Sold by us previously, forfilling a desire to own a 500SL we're deligted to offer this wonderful R107 again as we help our customer find a new home for his classic. Over recent years much love and financial outlay has been lavished with a real care attention given by its current & previous keeper and as such this '83 SL looks resplendant finished in her Lapis Blue with blue 1/2 cloth interior and matching fabric soft-top (new in 2016). The lines on this SL remain crips and clean, the paintwork has a crystal clear shine, all bright-work / exterior plastics and lens' remain superb and indeed the current owner spent a considerable sum having the original Bosch headlights refurbished by specialist 'Genie of the Lamp' and ensuring the details are 'just so' its great that the original 'Bundt' alloys have also been refurbished and wear a matched set of Falken 205/70/14 tyres with 6mm tread.

With the range topping 5 litre V8 (aside from the LHD only 560SL) under the bonnet, this SL offers effortless cruising but can also offer a real turn of pace if hustled into action.....though that's not really what these wonderful classic R107's are about! With the lovely distant 'burble' of the V8 noticeable under acceleration and with recent works including discs / pads, new fuel pump plus relay and a newly refurbished steering box (curtesy of the SL shop) and a 'pre-sale' oil / filter service plus new MOT, this SL should offer its new owner many enjoyable miles of classic motoring in what must be one of the coolest 70/80's classics.
