Alfa Romeo 1900 CSS by Touring “Superleggera” from 1953, 1st series, Coachwork by Touring, Chassis: AR1900C 01445

The Alfa Romeo 1900 Super Sprint was designed and assembled by carrozzeria Touring. This fabulous looking original RHD 1900 Super Sprint by Touring with its iconic Superleggera aluminium bodywork was manufactured in 1953. It is one of approximately 650 desirable first-series Sprint coupés bodied by Touring and sold new in Piemonte, Italy in 1953.The Alfa Romeo 1900 CSS Touring is made up of a steel ‘Superleggera’ tubular chassis, covered with aluminium sheet metal. The badges on the bonnet are Touring’s designation for the construction method of building cars with the lowest possible weight. In the past the car has benefitted from a thorough restoration with full mechanical overhaul by a British restoration company called ‘Church Green Engineering’. A very detailed restoration with all invoices present. This 4-cylinder drives and performs great and is a real driving pleasure. Technically and optically the car presents itself in very good state and condition. The Touring aluminium body is also in very good state, straight panels with minor markings and with a charming patina throughout. The car impresses by its lovely colour scheme combination. The silver exterior is a classical lovely colour combined with very neat and very proper blue leather/fabric seats and backseat interior. This RHD Alfa is probably one of only 3 cars made to right hand drive specification with floor gear shift, and thus extremely rare. The history of this lovely Alfa is largely known. The car was produced in July 1953 and was sold new in November 1953. In the seventies the car was sold to a Gentleman in the UK who had the car restored completely to the highest standards. Due to his age he sold the car in 2009 and since then it is in current ownership in a great classic car collection in Belgium. Belgian registered and on Belgian number plates. Ready to tour and drive!Over the last 14 years in Belgium this Italian beauty has enjoyed a high level of maintenance. The car is very well serviced. And has offered much joy and driving pleasure to its owner. The car is very well documented and comes with extensive history, invoices and file documents. The car has participated in several rallies and events and has been a price-winner on several occasions and shows. A well sorted example ready for a new adventure. Also a well-known car in the Alfa Romeo club and the Alfa Romeo 1900 Register! Further information and details certainly on request.
