Jaguar XK 120 Coupe for sale
The Jaguar XK 120 was a revolutionary motorcar when it was first on display at London Motor show back in 1948. The 120 indicated the top speed of the car and the success was followed up with XK 140 and XK 150. The Jaguar XK was available in three versions. The jaguar XK 120 Coupe like you see for sale here. The XK Drop Head Coupe and the Open Two -Seater.
Exterior: My 18-year-old son described it best when he said, a poor man’s Bugatti! The shape of the Jaguar XK 120 Coupe is extraordinary. I personally think that shape comes alive very well in this light blue colour and with a set of painted spoke wheels. The paint is very nice and smooth and the gap between the panels is even. The Jaguar’s doors, hood and trunk shut and open very nicely. The Jaguar XK 120 is rolling on a very nice set of Michelin tyres with a time-period correct pattern. For better road safety, a set of classic indicator lamps have been discretely retro fitted.
Interior: During the restoration of the Jaguar XK 120, the entire cabin was refurbished with new beige leather on the seats, new carpets and headliner. The interior comes with a certificate of authenticity proving that it meets original Jaguar interiors. The wood panels are now beautiful just like all the dials. Behind the two seats is a small compartment and underneath are the two batteries fitted. In the trunk, you have plenty of space for your suitcase and a spare wheel.
Engine: Engine starts up right away and these cars had automatic choke that keeps the idle up until engine warms up. The famous Jaguar straight six-cylinder engine feels very strong. The Jaguar XK 120 Coupe gearbox feels remarkably good, and it has excellent brakes for a car from 1953.
History: The Jaguar Heritage Certificate tells me that this Jaguar XK 120 was delivered on the 30th of January to Hoffman New York in USA. Reading in the history file, the car came over to Europe in 1995 and a restoration was started in 1998 and then completed in 2004. It was later sold on an auction and was registered in Germany. In the documentation in a German Classic Data appraisal from 2017, the Jaguar XK 120 was considered to be in condition 1 and had the value of 130,000 Euro. The XK came from The Houtcamp Collection to Sweden in late 2021. My personal opinion of this car is: A strikingly beautiful car that is well-sorted out mechanically after it had extensive restoration work. It is a wonderful car to drive once you get in there behind the steering wheel. However, I am sorry if you are taller than 178 cm, you will not fit without some seat modifications.
