Technical features and historical significance
The MG A 1600 Coupé, produced in only 9,887 units between 1959 and 1960, is among the most elegant and rare versions of the iconic British sports car. Powered by a 1588 cc engine producing approx. 80 hp, it reached speeds of 160 km/h, aided by its aerodynamic design and rear-wheel drive layout.
The “GHDL” chassis code identifies a Coupé model with left-hand drive for export, while the 16GA-U engine confirms its originality.
Vehicle history
Imported into Italy in 1989, this vehicle underwent a comprehensive and high-quality restoration, leading to its ASI homologation in 1991. It was registered in Brescia to its first owner in June 1992.
In 1997, the second owner obtained FIVA certification, further confirming its historical value.
In 2009, it passed to the third and current owner, who registered it with the MG Italian Register in 2012.
The car has always been meticulously maintained, with detailed invoices documenting all work performed.
The latest service was completed in November 2022 at a cost of €1,400. It has just passed its technical inspection, valid until November 2024.
